The TaoCoin Project is placing coins like the one you found randomly around the globe where others will find them to share the power of the Tao, to explain wu wei, and to propogate the campassion and goodness yielded by investments in those ideas. Tao (or Dao) is a Chinese word (道) translating roughly to path or way. It is sometimes also translated as doctrine, principle or holistic belief. Tao is the natural order of the universe.

Wu wei is a concept that means non-action, or to do without doing. Wu wei has been likened to enhanced athletic performances, which athletes often refer to as being in the zone. Lao Tzu taught that one should endeavor to actively do nothing (wu wei). But this doesn't mean literally do nothing. It means to observe and flow with natural forces rather than to struggle against them.
